How the work is done

01

Designed on the job, not off a leaflet

We size the array to the roof, the switchboard and how the place actually uses power.

02

We already work on East Coast buildings

Same Gisborne workshop since 1981. Solar sits with the trades who already do electrical and site work — fewer handoffs.

03

Numbers you can check

The estimator is a start. The bill, the roof and the retailer decide the system. If solar is a poor fit, we say so.

04

Installed, then we answer the phone

Awapuni Road, not a call centre. If something needs a look, you ring the same crowd.

Keep paying the retailer, or own some of it

Daytime power

Stay on the retailer
You buy it all
Home solar
You use what the roof makes
Solar + battery
You use the roof, and stored power later

After dark

Stay on the retailer
Retailer
Home solar
Still the retailer, unless you add a battery
Solar + battery
Battery covers part of the evening

Outage

Stay on the retailer
Off, unless you have a generator
Home solar
Grid-tie systems shut down for safety
Solar + battery
A backup-ready battery can keep selected circuits going. We spec that. We do not promise the whole house.

Who owns the kit

Stay on the retailer
The retailer owns the supply
Home solar
You own the system
Solar + battery
You own the system and the battery

Bill

Stay on the retailer
Keeps moving with the retailer
Home solar
Smaller bill, still a connection charge
Solar + battery
Smaller again, still a connection charge

A guide, not a promise. Shading, export rates and how you use power change the result.

Solutions

Home

A roof, a switchboard, a power bill. We check orientation, shading and what actually runs in the evening before we talk panels.

What we look at

  • Orientation and shading on the roof
  • Switchboard condition and spare capacity
  • What actually runs in the evening

Typical guide only — sized after a site visit.

A battery earns its keep, or it doesn't

A battery earns its keep when evening use is high or you want selected circuits through an outage. If you are out all day and the bill is small, we may say skip it.

A rough size, before anyone climbs the roof

Under $200 / month

— often a smaller roof array. Battery only if evening use or outages matter.

$200–$450 / month

— the usual family or lifestyle-block starting point.

Over $450 / month

— larger array, or a commercial or farm look. Three-phase and switchboard age matter more than the bill.

The kit is named on the quote

We fit tier-1 panels, a hybrid inverter, and a battery only if it pays its way or you want backup. Brand and model go on the written quote after the site visit — not as a logo wall.

The kind of job we design

Gisborne family home

North-facing iron, evening cooking and heat pump. Sized to the bill, battery only if the numbers say so.

Lifestyle block with a workshop

House load plus welders and a pump. Two switchboards, one system plan.

Small commercial roof

Daytime plant and office. Export is secondary to using power on site.

How it works

  1. 1

Tell us the bill and the address

  2. 2

We look at the roof and the switchboard

  3. 3

You get a written system and a price

  4. 4

We install, commission, and walk you through it

Green loans and Q Card, if you want them

We are not a lender. On home solar we can point you at a bank green loan or Q Card. Approval sits with them, not with us. Interest-free offers change — we will tell you what is current when we quote, not invent a term here.

Words only. Approval sits with the lender.

FAQ

A grid-tie system does not. A battery covers part of the evening, or selected circuits in an outage if we spec it that way.
